PRINSHOF SCHOOL FOR THE VISUALY IMPAIRED is a multi-cultural, dual-medium (Afrikaans and English) school situated in the Central Business District of Pretoria.

Opened in 1963, the school now caters for 350 blind and partially sighted learners from Grade R to Grade 12 of whom approximately 50% are from previously disadvantaged communities.

Learners are drawn from all over the country and hostel accommodation is provided for 190 learners who cannot travel to school on a daily basis. School transport is provided for learners who are not able to use public transport or can not be dropped off at school by parents.

Prinshof School comprises a Reception unit, Primary school and Secondary school as well as a department dedicated to the needs of learners with multiple handicaps and a special education section which focuses on practical skills that can contribute towards the placement of learners in the economic sector. Currently 38 educators and 45 non-educator staff ensure that learners receive adequate specialised and individual support.

As the leading school for the visually impaired in Gauteng, it is our vision to provide visually impaired learners with excellent and relevant specialised education and training while recognising the constitutional rights of each individual.
